From a disinterested reader to a bookworm

“I love the way that each book — any book — is its own journey. You open it, and off you go…”

– Sharon Creech

Reading gives voice to the deafest thoughts and beings around, be it listening to the gusty winds flowing by your hair, the chirping of birds early morning, the sound of ripped pages of an old book, raindrops hitting the ground, everything around us has a voice which you could only listen when you’re in touch with your emotions and with nature therein. Reading is one habit that brings you close to your soul, and helps you keep in constant touch with your emotions and feelings.

It improves your communication skills and aids in the development of your whole personality, and it also makes you more alert, empathic, and intellectually a seeker of information and understanding.

Long story short- reading frames you.

When you take up a book, you unwittingly embark on a long trip. A journey at the end of which you become a different person, or perhaps a better human; you become more aware of your surroundings, a better listener, and an emotional thinker. When you finish a heavily induced book full of knowledge and awareness of the universe, it's a whole new world waiting to be discovered.

Or perhaps you begin to see the world through a different lens; a few books will make you not want to leave this newly formed perspective of the world, and the sorrow justifies the completion of that book; a few books you may wish to keep a little too early due to the heaviness they contain, which will test your patience; A handful of them make you happy, so you'll want to go back and read them again to re-live the teardrops you felt when you were reading the narrative, or how you wished the climax was a little more complex.

“Reading is an exercise in empathy; an exercise in walking in someone else’s shoes for a while.” – Malorie Blackman

Making reading a habit, one that you progressively adjust to, will lead to your overall development and open up a whole new universe of possibilities for you to explore. Reading is almost equal to traveling. You don't have to physically traverse the world to appreciate its wonders; simply pick up a book and start reading.

Healthy reading habits make you emotionally and intellectually strong; you have a better grip and understanding of what's going on around you, and as a result, you're less afraid of the WHY determinant that surrounds events.

You will be less afraid of the WHY quotient and more familiar with the HOW!! Reading will take you to places (not literally) where you will become more in tune with yourself and experience a particular level of serenity and calm without having to be in physical company with anyone. Reading is a science of mastering solitude. You begin to enjoy your own company, and being alone ceases to be a source of fear; instead, it becomes your greatest advantage and strength.

A STRENGTH YOU CAN INVEST IN FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!

In the Heart of Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh: Lessons from the Land and Its People (Part 1)

Jhabua, nestled in the heart of Madhya Pradesh, is a region that embodies the spirit of simplicity, warmth, and resilience. Having visited this beautiful district twice, I’ve come to cherish the connections I’ve built with its people, the Bhil community. Their hospitality, rich culture, and profound knowledge of the land never cease to amaze me. Every visit leaves me with new learnings and a deeper appreciation for their way of life. One of the highlights of my trips has always been staying with the tribal Bhil families in rural Jhabua. There is something uniquely grounding about living amidst nature, surrounded by people who live in harmony with their environment. Their food, for instance, is a testament to their simplicity and love. The large makka ki roti, made from locally grown maize and served with affection, is a meal that warms both the heart and the soul. The taste is enhanced not just by its freshness but by the genuine hospitality that accompanies it. These experiences, acco...
